Anna Mae Schear – Obit

Anna Mae Schear, 84 of Mentor, MN passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022, with her loving family near her side at Villa St Vincent in Crookston, MN.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 7:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend Mike Sletto Officiating. Burial will be held at First English Cemetery near Mentor on Saturday, 1:00 PM December 17, 2022.

Visitation will be held on Friday at 5:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday evening.

Anna Mae Farden was born at home on February 26, 1938, the daughter of Erwin and Frances (Trask) Farden in Terrebonne Township, MN. She was baptized on March 27, 1938, and confirmed on November 16, 1952, at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. She attended school at Mentor School.

On March 2, 1957, Anna was united in marriage to Chester Duane Schear at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. To this union, 3 children were born Debra, Brenda, and Bob. The couple made their home north of Mentor. Chet passed away in January of 2005, Ann lived on the farm for a few years and later moved into Erskine until August of 2022 when she moved to the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston.

Ann was a housewife and homemaker helping with all the farming chores. While Chet was trucking Ann was the bookkeeper and parts runner. She worked part-time at various jobs.

She enjoyed spending time with Chet and her family. Family gatherings were very important to her. She loved to bake and try new recipes. She was Treasurer of First English Cemetery for 15 years and a member of Faith Lutheran Church Ladies aid.

Anna is survived by her children Brenda (Steve) Peterson of Mentor, MN; Bob (Cindy) Schear of Crookston, MN; grandchildren Traci (Dave Hall) Peterson, Tiffany (Lonnie) Larson, Samantha (Nick) Bergen, Ryan (Morgan) Schear, Whitney Schear and Hope (special friend Ben) Schear; great-grandchildren Michaela, David, Steven, Walter, Emmett, Ella, Ryleigh, Kade; brother Gordon (Marilyn) Farden of Dayton, MN; brother-in-law Dale “Bumpy” (Diane) Erickson of Fertile, MN; along with several nieces and nephews.

Anna is preceded in death by her parents, husband Chester, daughter Debra Ann, siblings Betty (Laurel) Schear, Beverly (RO) Lindsey, Bernard (Marie) Farden, Dick Farden, Barbara (Duane) Myhre, Darlene (Bud) Schear, In-Laws Evelyn (Art) Olson, Lois Erickson; and several nephews.
