Crookston’s Annie Fitzgerald will perform Saturday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m. in UMC’s Kiehle Auditorium along with special guest M French. Fitzgerald said it’s rare she gets the opportunity to put on a show in her hometown but is looking at making it an annual event. “I’m on the road a lot,” said Fitzgerald. “It’s rare I get a chance to play a show in my hometown. The last time that I played was in February. It was in the middle of the polar vortex. And when I was looking at doing another show, and if I wanted to do something maybe annually here, I decided I’d look at the fall. Hopefully, if all goes well and people want to come to hang out with us, we’ll do it again next year.”
Fitzgerald has been doing a house concert tour this year and likes to share the stories behind songs which she says she’ll do at this performance as well. “I adore house concerts so much because they are very connective, very intimate,” said Fitzgerald. “I love doing that in my shows, and I will do this as well on the 5th at UMC, but I like to tell the stories behind the songs and share why I wrote them. People tend to think that helps connect a little bit more. The house concert tour has been wonderful, and I’ve been enjoying that. Tickets for Saturday’s Annie Fitzgerald Concert featuring special guest M French can be purchased in advance online at www.anniefitzgerald.com for $12. Tickets at the door at $15. UMC Students can get tickets at the door for $10. The doors open at 7:00 p.m., show begins at 7:30 p.m.
