Annie M. Paul- Time of Service Announcement

Annie M. Paul, age 100, of Crookston, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Villa-St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston, surrounded by her loving family.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 10, 2021, at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Crookston, with a time of gathering an hour prior.  A burial service will follow the Mass at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Crookston.

Annie was born on July 25, 1921, in Conception Harbor, Newfoundland, Canada, to Michael and Bridget (Burk) Costello.  She attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated in 1937.  Annie met the love of her life, James Paul, and the two were married on November 7, 1941, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Conception Harbor, and to the union ten children were born. In 1964, the couple moved to Crookston.  Annie went on to work as a cook for the Minakwa Country Club in Crookston for eight years, and then for 11 and a half years for the Villa-St. Vincent Nursing Home.   Annie was a woman of deep faith and an active member of the Cathedral.  She loved flowers, babies, and fresh tomatoes from the garden.  She was often outspoken and always frugal.  Annie had a wonderful sense of humor and an assured determination.

She is survived by her children: Marie (Richard) Welch of Cambridge, MN; Ted (Joyce) of Detroit Lakes, MN; David (Bonnie) of Gentilly, MN; Michael (Peggy) of Crookston, MN; Margaret Pickett of The Villages, FL; Colleen (Jeff) Mauch, of Battle Lake, MN; John of Grand Marais, MN; a sister, Ursula McCann of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Paul; her parents, Michael and Bridget; sons, Douglas and James; and a daughter, Patricia Dorle; three brothers: Gerard, Jack, and Robert; and two sisters, Ella Costello, and Sister Ignatius.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Villa- St. Vincent’s courtyard flower garden fund.

Stenshoel Houske Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements
