AREA FARMERS INVITED FOR COFFEE, CONVERSATION, AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT

We would like to invite our area farmers and farm couples to join us for coffee and conversation on Saturday, December 14. We will be hosting events in Crookston and East Grand Forks, Minnesota. The purpose of these events is to offer a venue for our farming community to come together and support each other after a challenging harvest.

“Almost everyone in our region has been or will be affected by this year’s harvest. It’s been a tough season,” said Shauna Reitmeier, Chief Executive Officer of Northwestern Mental Health Center. “We wanted to take action and let our farmers and their families know they aren’t alone in this.”

Brekken Farms, located at 28383 255th Ave SW in Crookston, is opening its shop from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Adams Family Farm will host a second event at 20817 430th Ave SW, just south of East Grand Forks.

“Our farmers are caretakers and providers for the community. Hopefully, this is one small way we can help support our farmers and their families,” said Brenda Mack, a clinical social worker and wife of a third-generation farmer. “There won’t be a formal presentation or speaker, however, community and state resources will be shared. It’s mainly coffee, conversation and supporting one another.”

Several groups have partnered to organize these events, including Northwestern Mental Health Center, Brenda Mack Consulting, H.O.P.E. Coalition, CHS Inc., Adams Family Farm, and Brekken Family Farms.
