ARREST/FIRE REPORT – October 1, 2021

The Northwest Regional Corrections Center in Crookston reported the following arrests.

Mark Allen Betts, 62 of East Grand Forks, for Probation Violation.

Clarence Eugene Phelps, 70 of Bovey, for Fourth-Degree DUI.

Garrett Mathew Becker, 38 of Crookston, for Fifth-Degree Assault with intent to inflect Bodily Harm.

Melissa Kelli Bruns, 40 of East Grand Forks, for First-Degree Drug Possession.

The Crookston Fire Department (CFD) responded to the following calls on 9/30/2021 –

At 10:30 a.m., the CFD was called to the 200 block of S Broadway to reset an elevator. Once the elevator, was reset and operating, the CFD cleared the scene. 

At 4:30 p.m., the CFD was called by Polk County dispatch to assist the Crookston Police Department with the transport of an individual who was having trouble breathing, as all ambulance crews were out of town. The CFD assisted the Crookston Police Department, who then transported the individual to the emergency room. The CFD cleared the scene.

At 9:18 p.m., the CFD responded to the 400 block of Houston Ave for a report of a Carbon Monoxide detector activation. Upon instigation using Carbon Monoxide detecting tools, there was no Carbon Monoxide found. The CFD found that the detector required a new battery and advised the homeowner to replace the battery. The CFD then cleared the scene.
