ASHLYN BAILEY LEADS PIRATE TRACK WITH A 3RD & 5TH PLACE AT SECTION TRACK

The Crookston Pirate Boys and Girls Track and Field teams had 10 athletes, eight girls, and two boys, competing in the Section 8A meet on Friday at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton High School in Glyndon. The Crookston Girls finished 12th place out of 19 scoring teams with 20 points, while West Marshall won the meet with 100 points. The Crookston Boys were 21st out of 22 scoring teams with two points, while Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton dominated the meet with 190 points.
No Pirates finished in the top two, and they won’t advance anybody to the state track meet.

GIRLS –
The top Pirate was sophomore Ashlyn Bailey, who finished third in the 100 meters with a time of 13.44. She was .05 out of second place, just missing a trip to state by a hair. Bailey finished fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 28.24. She was also on the eighth-place 4×100 relay with Chloe Boll, Grace Boll, and Calleigh Fanfulik.
Halle Winjum finished fourth place in the Pole Vault with a vault of 9 feet and 7 inches, tying Chloe Boll’s school record she set earlier this year. Winjum attempted 10-01, which would have automatically qualified her for the state meet, but she wasn’t able to clear the height in her three attempts.
Chloe Boll finished fifth place in the Pole Vault with a vault of 9-01.
The girls listed above are all the athletes who placed and scored points for Crookston.

BOYS –
Makoti Weber was the lone Pirate who scored points with a seventh place in the Pole Vault, which gave him two team points. He cleared his first three attempts on the first try. He cleared 9-10 on the second try and cleared 10-04 on the third try. He missed on all three attempts at 10-10.
Aaron Gosse, only a freshman, finished 12th in the 200 meters, and he also finished 14th in the 100 meters, which is impressive as a freshman.

Below, we have posted the team scoring, how all the Pirates did, and a list of area athletes advancing to state.
