Athlete of the Week – Eric Delorme (January 16, 2019)

The athlete of the week is Crookston Pirate Boy’s hockey player, Eric Delorme, a senior captain and teams point leader.  Eric scored a goal and added three assists in a big section win over Detroit Lakes on Tuesday.

Eric not only leads the team in goals with 13, but he also leads the team in assists with 14 for 27 points in 17 games so far this season.  He has two power play and one short-handed goal on the season.  Eric logs a lot of ice team each game and he only has two penalties so far this season.  He has a great mix of size, speed, and power and he can see the ice very well.  There have been several games where he takes control and makes big plays to get his team going.  “Eric is a player who has worked extremely hard throughout his career as a Pirate to get where he is now. He is one of the most offensively gifted players in the Section and that’s a result of the effort and time he has put in at the rink and in the offseason. He is so good in small spaces and combine that with his size and speed and he is very difficult to defend. He has taken a huge step defensively this year and that has really rounded out his game. He is a great leader, an example for our younger players on what it takes to compete at a high level,” said Pirate Boys Hockey Coach Josh Hardy.  “Eric has all the tools to play at the next level if he chooses to do so, but regardless of what he decides to do, his positive attitude and work ethic will serve him well.”
Eric played varsity soccer for three seasons, he is a member of the trap shooting team and the Crookston High School LEO Club.
