Athlete of the Week – Libby Salentine

This week’s Athlete of the Week is Crookston Pirate Girl’s Basketball player Libby Salentine. The senior has played a big role for Crookston this year on a younger team and has stepped into the role of a leader both on and off the court.

Libby Salentine

Salentine’s play has continued to grow and she has been a staple in the Pirates starting lineup while being one of the team’s best rebounders. “Libby is a phenomenal leader in all areas of our team,” said Pirates coach Darin Zimmerman. “The most fundamental part of being a leader is helping others achieve more. It is not easy to do, but at the end of the day, Libby genuinely cares for the team and serves the team to help others achieve more, believe more, and hold them accountable. She does this all the time, which makes her such an important piece to our team.”

Salentine will be graduating this spring and plans to attend the University of Missoula Montana to pursue a degree in Nursing. She was also a member of the Pirates Volleyball team this fall and runs track in the spring. Away from sports Salentine enjoys snowmobiling and hanging out with teammates.
