ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Noah Kiel

The KROX Athlete of the Week is Crookston Pirate Boys Soccer player, Noah Kiel, a junior.

Noah recorded a hat trick in a 5-2 win over Mesabi East on Saturday and now has six goals (out of the teams 13) and he has one assist so far this season.  He uses his size and tremendous speed and is unrelenting in his offensive assault in every game.  “Being one of the fastest guys on the team, Noah plays a Striker position for us and is usually one of the first on the ball when it is sent down,” said Pirate Boys Soccer Coach Lon Boike.  “His speed is a great asset to this team as other teams have to pay special attention to him and his ability to get down the field.  This opens up opportunities for some of our other players.”

Noah has played varsity soccer since seventh grade and recorded six goals and two assists during his sophomore season.

Noah is a three-sport athlete and has run varsity track since eighth grade where he competes, primarily in the 100 and 200 meters and the 4×100 and 4×200 relays.  Last year, his sophomore year, Noah pulled off a rare feat and advanced to state in the 100 and 200-meter races.  He won the 100 meters and finished second place in the 200 to advance in both events.  At state, his top finish was 11th place in the 100 and he looks forward to this spring with a goal of reaching the awards podium this year.

Noah also plays hockey and as a sophomore played defense and had one goal and two assists in 24 games.

Noah spends his summer working long hours on the family farm and he also helps his Grandma (State Representative Deb Kiel) walking/driving in parades throughout the district.
