AUDIT FINDS CROOKSTON DIOCESE COMPLIANT WITH CHARTER FOR PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

A recent data audit of diocesan safe environment practices was conducted by Stonebridge Business Partners of Rochester, New York. The firm found that the Diocese of Crookston is compliant with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People for the 2018-2019 audit period.

The Charter was drafted by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in 2002. Dioceses around the country are audited each year to determine adherence to the Charter.

Two types of audits are conducted. Every three years an onsite audit is conducted. Members of the Stonebridge audit team travel to the diocese to conduct interviews with individuals involved with safe environment administration, check records and processes and visit parishes. During the years between onsite audits, the Diocese of Crookston submits required information to Stonebridge for a data audit.

The 2018-2019 audit period was a data audit. The last on-site audit of diocesan Safe Environment practices was conducted for the 2017-2018 period.
