The Minnesota Department of Health released the COVID-19 numbers for today and the state reported 1,858 cases with 32 deaths. 1 death was reported in northwest Minnesota, in Roseau County. The University of Minnesota Crookston will recognize the achievements of its exceptional alumni during the annual Alumni Awards Celebration. The 1st Battalion, 188th Air Defense Artillery Regiment (1-188th ADA) celebrated Captain Cody Brekken for receiving the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award. Brekken was one of seven Army National Guard officer recipients this year. Brekken is from Crookston, Minnesota, and serves as a Captain for the North Dakota Army National Guard. The Crookston Pirate Volleyball team played well, but the high flying and hard-hitting Roseau Rams were too much as they cruised to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-18) victory in a Section 8AA matchup played at the Crookston High School gymnasium. “I don’t think we put a full set together tonight,” said Crookston Coach Katie Englestad.
