Arrest/Fire Report – Tuesday, May 21, 2019

Fire calls: At 9:53 Monday evening, the Crookston Fire Department responded to a report of a grass fire in a ditch in the area of Sections 23 and 24 in Crookston Township. On arrival nothing was found, so the report was either in error, or the fire burned out before they got there.

Betty Jane Kirchmeier – Obit

Betty Jane (Olson) Kirchmeier, 92, was the 4th and youngest child born to Arthur “Roy” and Marie (Ramstorf) Olson on September 10, 1926 in Ada, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran (Grace) Church. Betty attended both elementary and high school in Ada. Betty left this life on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Benedictine

PARK BOARD GETS OUTDOOR RINK UPDATE, AWARDS GRANTS AND TOURS PARKS

The Crookston Park Board met on Monday night at City Hall.  The agenda included one item and a bus tour of the city’s parks.  An item that was not on the agenda was an update from Parks and Recreation Scott Riopelle on the outdoor rink plans for Alexander Park that the board approved in April.

CROOKSTON HIGH SCHOOL ENVIROTHON TEAM PLACES 6TH AT STATE

The Crookston High School Envirothon team competed at the state competition on Monday and placed sixth out of 27 teams. The event was held at the historic Oliver Kelley Farm near Elk River. CHILD CARE MEETING SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY NIGHT

The City of Crookston has scheduled a child care meeting for Tuesday, May 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.  The meeting will be moderated by Dan Svedarsky and will begin with Mayor Guy Martin providing an overview of where the City has been, identifying some site options and operational considerations.
