The Crookston Public Schools held their annual Crookston District Spelling Bee on Wednesday afternoon inside the Crookston High School Auditorium. There were 16 competitors in this year’s spelling bee, ranging from fifth to eighth grade. The Crookston Knights of Columbus Free Throw shooting contest was held on January 14 at the Cathedral School Gymnasium. A total of 17 kids, 11 boys and six girls, competed. Daryl Lee Gilbertson, 69, of Eldred, Minnesota, passed away on December 31, 2023. Daryl was born on July 17, 1954, in Worthington, MN to Milton and Dorothy (Derr) Gilbertson.
