AUTHORITIES RESPOND TO A FIRE NEAR FERTILE AFTER BEING ALERTED BY A PILOT

On Saturday, July 13, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office was advised by a pilot flying an airplane that a shed appeared to be on fire near County Road 1 approximately three miles west of the city of Fertile. The Fertile Fire Department along with a Polk County Deputy located the fire at 42170 150th Ave SW in Liberty Township. When the Fire Department and a Deputy arrived on scene the shed was fully engulfed and a total loss. After speaking with the owners of the shed it was determined that the shed was full of alfalfa and no equipment.

No foul play is suspected and assisting agencies Include the Beltrami Fire Department, Mentor Fire Department, Crookston Fire Department, and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal.
