Benedictine Living Community-Crookston to host Lunch & Learn at the Golden Link on June 26

The Benedictine Living Community-Crookston invites anyone interested in learning about the services they offer to a Lunch and Learn at the Golden Link Senior Center on Thursday, June 26, at 11:00 a.m.  This will be Benedictine Living Community – Crookston’s second year to hold this luncheon at the Golden Link. “We did this last year, last spring. We have done similar events like this in the past, too,” says Cassie Rudie, Benedictine Living Community-Crookston Foundation Director. “It’s just a good opportunity to get out in the community and tell everyone what we are all about.”

What can you expect if you attend the Lunch and Learn? “It’s a meal, hosted by us. The special of the day is sloppy joes, baked beans, potato chips, a cookie and milk,” says Rudie. “So, it’s a free meal to those who want to come and have that and kind of learn a little bit about Benedictine Living Community-Crookston.”

The presentation will touch on the history of the Benedictine Living Community, as well as some of the services offered there. Rudie recognizes that having these kinds of conversations can be difficult and wants people to know it doesn’t have to be. “We know that not everyone going down to the Golden Link for lunch is ready for long-term care, but maybe you have a relative, a friend, or a neighbor, and it’s just a great opportunity for us to get this information out.”

Rudie says you never know if you may be able to help someone by attending and being able to say you learned about some things that could help. There are also some services provided by Benedictine Living Community–Crookston that you may not even know existed, like the short-term stay services. “We offer a week-long stay, up to a three-month stay, where you are not committed to moving in fully in a furnished apartment.”

What other services will be spoken about at the Lunch and Learn? “Our outpatient therapy services. People from the community can come in and utilize our therapy services,” says Rudie. “There is a lot that we have to offer that we just want to put out there, and we are excited about it.”

Rudie will be in good company as she will be joined by Linsey Erdman, Benedictine Living Community – Crookston Executive Director and Housing Director, Peggy Wangen. “We will come down there and have some lunch, and we will just do a brief presentation,” says Rudie. “We are looking forward to it.”

Thursday, June 26, at 11:00 a.m., join the Benedictine Living Community-Crookston at the Golden Link for a Lunch and Learn event.
