BENEDICTINE/VILLA ST. VINCENT FOUNDATION TO HOLD FESTIVAL OF TABLES MAY 4

The Benedictine Living Community/Villa St. Vincent Foundation will be holding the Festival of Tables fundraiser dinner on Thursday, May 4, at the Crookston Eagles Club.  Doors will open at 5:00 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m.  The dinner will include chicken Kiev, garlic mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, a tossed salad, and the host at each table brings a dessert.

Cassie Rudie, Benedictine Foundation Director, tells us more.

“We have table hosts that decorate tables, and they can choose any theme they want.  Some people choose a safari theme or a beach theme and different fun themes, and people will usually dress up in that theme, and we will do a vote on the best table,” said Cassie Rudie, Benedictine Foundation Director. “If anybody is interested in getting a table or attending the fundraiser, give us a call at 218-281-3424, and if you want to host a table, we will certainly accommodate you.  We would love to have more people join us.”

All the proceeds from the Festival of Tables will go toward the repair and upgrade of the three elevators at the facility. “This will be the last fundraiser because we have almost finalized the funding for it, and the project is starting.  The elevators in the facility haven’t been updated in over 30 years, and the ones in the SUMMIT are original to the building from 1950, and parts are obsolete,” said Rudie. “The current elevators will be updated in repaired, and all the current inner parts will be completely changed out and we will have some updates in the inside of the cabs with some flooring and sprucing them up a little bit and make sure they look nice.”

The elevators are an important part of the buildings, and they need to run, especially to get food to the residents. “When the Villa nursing home portion of the building was built in 1970, they have one elevator that brings the two buildings together, and they built it so they can utilize the kitchen and the boiler system and many parts that were already in the existing SUMMIT building,” said Rudie. “If the elevator went down, it would be so hard because the kitchen is in the basement, and they have to bring the food up on carts, the laundry is in the basement, and they have to bring the laundry carts in the elevator, so it is an important project, and we are thankful to everyone that has donated to it.”

If you want to attend the fundraiser and don’t have a spot as part of one of the tables, they do have a table for individuals who can come.  The tickets are $25, including the meal, and if you would like to attend as a host of a table or an individual, call 218-281-3424.  They have a lot of prizes from area businesses and other raffles that will take place throughout the evening.
