Bernard Paul Harrington – Obit

Bernard Paul Harrington, 76, of Crookston, MN, passed away on December 12, 2021.

Bodie, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was born in Manhattan, NY on October 23, 1945, to Bernard L. and Frances (Quigley) Harrington. He was raised in Grand Rapids, MN, and graduated from high school in 1964. In 1966 Bodie enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served his tour of duty stateside at Camp Pendleton, CA. In 1977 Bodie moved to Crookston where he met his wife, Emily Meyer. Bodie and Emily were married on December 9, 1978, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Crookston and had 2 daughters, Margaret and Joan. Bodie served as the Director of Aldor Home in Crookston until establishing his own business, Harrington Painting. He was a lifelong member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Bodie had many interests, including fishing, reading, politics, cartography, boat restoration, and being outdoors with his family at the Harrington Hunting Club. He was adventurous, mischievous, funny, and compassionate. Children’s welfare was important to Bodie and he contributed to charitable organizations locally and abroad.

Bodie is survived by Emily, his beloved wife and best friend of 43 years; their 2 daughters and sons-in-law Margaret and Dan Stephens of Crookston, MN and Joan and Anand Badami of Flemington, NJ; 3 grandchildren, Tiernan Stephens, and Jacinta and Emiliana Badami; sister, Joan Harrington of Medford, OR; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Frances Harrington.

The funeral Mass for Bodie will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 17, 2021, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Mass will also be live-streamed at www.crookstoncathedral.com – click prompt to view.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Bodie’s name to Cathedral School or St. Gianna Maternity Home, 15605 County Road 15, Minto, ND 58261.
