Betty Jane Kirchmeier – Obit

Betty Jane (Olson) Kirchmeier, 92, was the 4th and youngest child born to Arthur “Roy” and Marie (Ramstorf) Olson on September 10, 1926 in Ada, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran (Grace) Church. Betty attended both elementary and high school in Ada.

Betty left this life on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Benedictine Care Community, Ada, MN.

Betty and Orville Kirchmeier were joined in marriage on September 25, 1948 in a double wedding with her sister Elaine and Marion Menge at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Iowa. They made their home on Orville’s farm north east of Ada. Betty worked at numerous jobs including a waitress at the Pantry Café, bookkeeping at JC Penney’s, sales clerk at Krauter’s Hardware, and arts and crafts Aid at the Ada Nursing Home.

Betty was a kind hearted and happy natured lady who had many friends. She liked nothing better than to sit over a cup of coffee and visit and reminisce about the past. Although Betty and Orville were not blessed with children; she was a caring aunt to her many nieces and nephews, was asked by friends and family to be a Godparent many times. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School at St John’s Church.

Betty is survived by her brother’s widow, Dora Olson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Marie Olson, her siblings, Elaine (Marion) Menge, Loren Olson, and Eleanor (Gerald) Rafftery.

Funeral: 11:00AM, Friday, May 24, 2019, at St John’s Lutheran Church, rural Ada, MN.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the church on Friday.
