Betty Thibert – Obit

Betty Thibert 85 of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 17, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bob Schreiner officiating and John Bruggeman Deacon. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, January 16, 2022, with a 7:00 service at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and one hour prior to the service on Monday.  Burial will be held in the spring at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Betty Diane Woolery was born on November 24, 1936, in Appleton, MN the only child of Warren and Beatta (Fritz) Woolery. She lived in Appleton, Montevideo, St Louis, MO, Crookston, and Red Lake Falls.  She graduated from Crookston High School in 1954. Her first job in High School was at St. Vincent’s Rest Home in Crookston, MN where she earned enough money to buy her first pair of roller skates. During her Senior year, she took a job at Northwestern Bell Telephone as a telephone operator.

She married Dwight Thibert on September 22, 1956, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. After their marriage, she worked as a Salesclerk at Dodd’s Drug in Red Lake Falls. Together Betty and Dwight owned and operated Thibert Sports and Appliance Center in Red Lake Falls from 1962 until Dwight’s death in 1991. She continued to operate the business with the help of her three boys until 2001. This business provided TVs and Appliances to the area and for many their first motorcycle, 3-wheeler, or snowmobile.

While in retirement she enjoyed being part of the Red Hat Association and working for 14 years as an on-call associate with Edward Jones in Thief River Falls and Crookston. Betty was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and Guild. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She loved traveling. Some of her favorite trips with Dwight were to Hawaii, Japan, Greece, England, Switzerland, and Morocco. She enjoyed riding her own motorcycle, snowmobile, going on pontoon rides, and spending time at her cabin at Maple Lake. She cherished the time she spent with her family and never wanted to be left out of anything.

She is survived by her three sons Mike Thibert and his wife Kelly of Fresno, CA; Steve Thibert and his wife Jane of Red Lake Falls, MN; Patrick Thibert and his wife Heather of Thief River Falls, MN. Grandchildren; Zac, Jordan, Samantha, and fiance’ Matthew Harrill, Alex and wife Morgan, Kyle, Vanessa, and Livia. Brother and Sister-In-Laws Gerald and his wife Darlene Thibert, JoAnn Thibert, Nancy LaHaise.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dwight Thibert, Parents Warren and Beatta (Fritz) Woolery, and her granddaughter Rebecca Thibert (daughter of Pat and Heather Thibert). Brother and Sister In-Laws Vern and his wife Donna Thibert, Roger Thibert, Harold LaHaise.
