The ExCEL Award – Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership – is a unique recognition program designed exclusively for Minnesota high school juniors who are active in school activities, who show leadership qualities, and who work voluntarily in their community.
Crookston Public School District is proud to announce the nominations for this award. Caden Boike and Halle Winjum have been selected to represent Crookston in the ExCEL Award this year. Caden is the son of Lon and Chris Boike. Halle is the daughter of Chris and Leah Winjum.
Caden is involved in the following activities.
School Activities: A Honor Roll, Leo Club, Concert, Marching, and Pep Band. Athletics: Soccer, Basketball, Track and Field.
Community Service: Various Cathedral Church Activities, Youth Soccer Coach, TEARS Walk for Suicide Prevention, Various Leo Club activities.
Halle is involved in the following activities.
School Activities: A Honor Roll, Student Council, LEO Club, Spirit Squad, Prom Committee, Peer Mentoring Athletics: Tennis, Basketball, Track and Field
Community Service: Church Sunday School Teacher, Youth Board Member, Youth Tennis Coach, Youth Basketball Coach, Leo Club
Award recipients will be selected by an independent panel of judges from schools throughout Minnesota. Each recipient will be recognized on KSTC-TV (45TV) during the broadcast of the 2022 winter tournaments. They also will participate in an on-court award ceremony during the Class AA championship game of the Girls Basketball State Tournament in March. Award winners will be announced on February 6, 2023, on the MSHSL website.
