BREANNA KRESSIN BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD IN 100 HURDLES, ADVANCES TO FINALS IN 3 EVENTS AT STATE TRACK

Crookston Pirate Senior Breanna Kressin is competing in three events (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and the 200-meter dash) and Sophomore Cassie Solheim is competing in the long jump at the Minnesota State High School League Class A State Track meet at St. Michael-Albertville High School. 

BREANNA KRESSIN
Kressin is running three prelim races in her three events.  In the 100 hurdles, Kressin finished second in her heat with a school record of 15.19 seconds.  The record breaks Kayla Wahlin’s time of 15.24 in 2003.  Breanna’s time was fourth overall and she will qualify for the finals.  The top two times were Class A records with the best time coming from defending state champ, Shaina Zinter of Concordia Academy with a time of 14.31 seconds. 

Kressin won her heat in the 300 hurdles with a time of 45.86 seconds, which was 6/10ths of a second off a school record.  The top time in the 300 hurdles was another State Class A record with Shaina Zinter of Concordia-Academy with a time of 42.38 seconds.  Kressin has the second-best time going into the finals tomorrow.

In the 200 meters, Breanna finished third in her heat and finished sixth place with a time of 26.31 and will advance to the finals in her third event.  The time was only .12 away from Christy Rongen’s School record of 26.19 set in 1984.  All the finals will be run on Friday starting at 4:00 p.m.

CASSIE SOLHEIM-
Cassie had three jumps in the long jump and only had one where she didn’t foul and that was a jump of 14-07.50 feet.  That was good for 16th place out of 20 jumpers and she didn’t make the finals.  The sophomore soaked in her first trip to the state track meet and is looking at coming back next year.
