BRECKENRIDGE AND FERTILE LIBRARIES TO HOST “BREAKING BARRIERS: LGBTQ ORAL HISTORY PROJECT” PRESENTATIONS

The Breckenridge Public Library and the Fertile Public Library have scheduled programs featuring a local oral history project. In November 2017, the Red River Rainbow Seniors began an oral history project, “Breaking Barriers: Harvesting LGBTQ Stories from the Northern Plains,” focusing on older LGBTQ people and their allies.

The original digital files and the transcriptions will be in the North Dakota State University Archives. Attendees will hear from Dr. Mark Chekola, Emeritus Professor of Philosophy from MSUM and member of the Oral History Committee, as he shares this project, including the stories collected as part of the project.

These programs are offered free of charge on Tuesday, May 3 at 6:00 p.m. at the Breckenridge Public Library, 205 7th St. North, and on Wednesday, May 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fertile Public Library, 101 Mill St. South. This program is offered as part of a partnership with the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County.
