RiverView Auxiliary Blood Drive

RiverView Auxiliary will host a Blood Drive on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at RiverView Health in Crookston. Crookston School Board Meeting

The Crookston School Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 29 at 6:00 p.m. in the choir/orchestra room at the Crookston High School. Please note the date and time change from the regularly scheduled meeting time and day

Community Picnics

The Polk and Red Lake County DFL proudly invite residents to a series of community picnics this summer aimed at fostering connection, civic engagement, and shared values. Picnic dates are as follows:

August 20th, 5–7 PM at Ray Ecklund Park, Crookston – with special guest Ben Schierer, author of “Perpich: A Minnesota Original.”

22nd Annual Night to Unite

The 22nd Annual Crookston Night to Unite will be held on August 5 from 4:30 to 7:30 on the University of Minnesota Crookston campus. This is a free community event with family-friendly activities for all ages, including Walt Keller Bingo, Bike package giveaways, community vendors, celebrity dunk tank, watermelon eating contest, food trucks, golf ball drop, first responder demonstrations, and register for prizes.
 

Prairie Skyline Foundation – Night to Unite

The Prairie Skyline Foundation will be at Night to Unite on August 5 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. They will have giant bubble making for kids and will be on OxCart Days as well. The Historic Church Survey ends with OxCart Days, so make sure you take the opportunity to take the survey.

Crookston Community Theatre – Comedy Auditions

Audition with Crookston Community Theatre on Wednesday, August 6, and Thursday, August 7, at 7:00 p.m. at the Golden Link.  CCT needs both men and women for a comedy. Performances will run Wednesday, October 22, through Saturday, October 25. Leave a message or text if interested at 215-270-9511

DNR Hunter Safety Training

The DNR Hunter Safety Training class for ages 11 and older will begin in August. Classes will be held at the Crookston Gun Club from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, August 12 and 19, Thursdays, August 14 and 21, and Friday, August 15 and 22. Crookston Lions and Minakwas 44th Annual Youth Golf Tournament

The Crookston Lions and Minakwas 44th Annual Youth Golf Tournament will be August 4 and 5 at Minakwa Golf Course. Entry fee is $20 and includes lunch. Crookston Public Library – Family Career Exploration & Resource Fair

There will be a Family Career Exploration & Resource Fair at the Crookston Public Library on Monday, August 11, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Come on out to this free event. The library is located at 110 North Ash Street, Crookston.

The Crookston Public Library invites the community to a free outdoor concert on August 14, at 5:00 p.m. at the Downtown Square. The FM All-Stars will perform. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for seating

Wesley United Methodist Church, located at 701 Eickhof Blvd. in Crookston, will have their Summer Salad Luncheon on Thursday, August 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. They will serve a variety of salads, homemade desserts and beverages for a cost of $12. Dine in or take out.

Lillian Bridgeford 20th Annual Memorial Golf Scramble

The Lillian Bridgeford 20th Annual Memorial Scramble will be on Saturday, September 13 at Minakwa Golf Course. It’s a 4-person scramble format. Be there by 10:00 a.m. and tee off at 10:30 a.m. New this year is a $10,000 Hole in One Challenge. Minimum donation of $80 each for each player for 18 holes of golf, lunch, and a chance to win prizes. All proceeds go to Hospice of the Red River Valley. West Polk County Soil and Water Conservation District – Scholarship

The West Polk County Soil and Water Conservation District is offering a $1,000 college scholarship for a degree in Agricultural Science or Natural Resource Science. ​To be eligible, applicants must be West Polk County residents, attending high schools within West Polk County, and graduating in the spring of 2025. Applications can be found on their website at https://www.westpolkswcd.org/environmental-education.html. The Deadline to apply is August 25, 2025.

Twig and Branch Collection in Crookston

Twig and Branch Collection in Crookston is on the second and fourth Mondays of each month through October. Branches must be cut into four-foot lengths, bundled, and placed on the curb. Twigs may be in boxes or bags. Individuals removing their diseased elm trees should call City Hall to schedule a pickup. Leaves, grass, and other compostable material must be in the clear City of Crookston Bags, and they will be collected on your regular garbage collection day. Flu Shots Available at RiverView Health Clinics

Flu Shots are available now at RiverView Health at its Crookston, Fertile, and Red Lake Falls Clinics during regular business hours, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Appointments are required. Call the clinic of your choice to schedule your visit.

Burger Nights at the Fisher American Legion

The American Legion in Fisher will have Burger Night on Wednesdays in July and August. There are various selections for on-site dining or take-out.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Parents of children are invited to register their children for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The program provides one book every month to your child for FREE from when you enroll until they turn five. Crookston Public School manages the program, and you can register at ImaginationLibrary.com.

Crookston Public Library – New Born Baby Talk

Every Tuesday (except for Federal Holidays), The Crookston Public Library will host New Born Baby Talk from 9:30 am. to 11:00 a.m. This is for parents with babies 0-12 weeks old. A public health nurse, parent educator, and lactation specialist will be available to answer questions about your newborn and provide support and information on your new journey of parenting.

The Crookston Public Library’s Books & Brews Book Club meets on the fourth Tuesday of every other month at 6:00 p.m. at Drafts Sports Bar and Grill. They will discuss books and enjoy beverages. Appetizers are provided by the Friends of the Crookston Public Library; participants are responsible for the cost of their food and drinks. All are welcome.
