Gala For Girls

The Gala for Girls for girls in grades K through 6 is set for Friday, May 1st, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Crookston Inn.  Bring your dad, grandpa, uncle, or adult male role model. Registration will be open until it is filled and will close on Friday, April 17 at noon. Pre-registration is required, and tickets typically sell out. Cost is $45 per couple and $20 per additional girl. The event includes a professional photo, a social, a sit-down dinner, a special gift, and an evening of dancing. DCDP Adopt a Basket

It’s time to Adopt a Basket!! The Downtown Crookston Development Partnership is accepting monetary donations.  One basket is $50 or two baskets for $90, which includes flowers, materials, and maintenance. Climax Library

The Climax Public Library’s Book Club will meet tonight at 6:30 p.m. to discuss The Maid by Nita Prose. The Maid by Nita Prose is the #1 New York Times bestseller, and the story follows Molly Gray, a hotel maid who prides herself on her immaculate uniforms and her ability to return guest rooms to a “state of perfection.” But Molly’s world is turned upside down when she discovers an infamous, wealthy guest dead in his bed. Because of her unusual social manner, Molly quickly becomes the lead suspect.

The Crookston City Council will meet tonight at 5:30 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers. A Ways and Means Committee meeting will follow.

The Crookston Public Schools Kindergarten Roundup will be on Wednesday, April 8, from 3:45 to 4:45 at Highland Elementary School. This is for children who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2026 and their parents. Doors open at 3:30 p.m.  Explore the kindergarten classrooms, take a school bus ride, and receive a free kindergarten toolkit. Bring a birth certificate if possible. Free egg hunt for kids ages 0-10, pictures with the Easter Bunny, treats, prizes, face painting, vendors with neat items and lots of fun. All proceeds to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Minn Dakk Youth Outdoors

The University of Minnesota Crookston Music-Theater Department is presenting the second annual dinner theater at the Crookston Masonic Lodge, Friday and Saturday, April 10-11, at  6:00 to 7:30 p.m., performing the one-act comedy “All By Myself”. Pool-A-Thon Fundraiser

The third Annual Pool-A-Thon Fundraiser, sponsored by Fin & Fit, will be Saturday, April 11. The Co-Ed Water Volleyball Tournament starts at 10:00 a.m. There are 2 divisions: competitive and recreational. 6 players per team. Prizes for 1st and 2nd place in each division. Entry fee is $20 per person, sponsors are welcome. Register by calling or texting Jo at 218-280-6615. Free open swim from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. sponsored by Tom and Vivian Hall to honor all disabled veterans. All ages and abilities welcome. Food concessions will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with hot dogs, chips, and snacks.  The fundraiser supports new accessible entry doors.

The Crookston High School will host its annual Senior Citizen Brunch and a viewing of the High School Drama Department’s spring play Little Shop of Horrors on Monday, April 13. Breakfast for the senior citizens will be served at 8:30 a.m. by the CHS Leo Club in the Crookston High School Commons, and the play will start at about 9:10 a.m. in the auditorium.

Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life

Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, Chapter 45, will host a Celebrate Life Event on Wednesday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the McIntosh Community Center, 115 Broadway St. NW, McIntosh. The featured speaker will be motivational speaker Tim Mosser, presenting “I Came That They Might Have Life.” His engaging presentation uses music and audience interaction while discussing the value of human life at all stages and life-affirming alternatives for those facing unplanned pregnancies. A taco supper will be served at 6:00 p.m. prior to the event. The public is welcome to attend, and youth are especially encouraged to participate.

The Golden Link will have a Hotdish Fundraiser on Thursday, April 16, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Cost is $7 per pound, and there are many hot dishes to choose from. Proceeds will go towards building updates and maintenance.

Join the Polk County Master Gardener Volunteers at the Crookston Public Library to learn about small-space gardening on Saturday, April 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  Learn about what types of containers/spaces to use, how to prepare your soil, and which plants grow best in small spaces and more.

United Way of Crookston

The United Way of Crookston Fun Walk will be Saturday, April 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Crookston Sports Center. $5 for kids and senior citizens, $10 for adults, children under 3 are free.  Get your passport, check in at all the CSCs, solve puzzles, play mini-games, and support agencies that change lives across the Crookston Community.  5K is 12 laps of the track, 2.5k is 6 laps and 1 mile is 4 laps. Strollers, walkers and wheelchairs are more than welcome.

The Minn-Dak Youth Outdoors Banquet will be Saturday, April 18, at 5:00 p.m. at the East Grand Forks Eagles Club. Alluma Foundation to host Ignite the Light, A Community Celebration of Hope, Healing, and Connection, on Saturday, April 25 at 4:30 p.m. at the Crookston Inn and Convention Center. The event will bring community members together to expand access to mental health and substance use disorder care across northwestern Minnesota. Ignite the Light is Alluma Foundation’s signature fundraising event, and the evening will include dinner, a silent auction, and time to connect with the community. The guest speaker will be Jennifer Compeau, Family Resource Coordinator at the East Grand Forks Family Resource Center and Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.  Tables of eight are available for $400. Library Learning Lab for ages 5 through 13 will be on Monday, April 27, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday, April 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Crookston Public Library. This month they will explore poetry with fun and engaging activities about poetry. This is a come-and-go event, and parents and caregivers are highly encouraged to attend with their children, as the activities will require directions to be read and followed.

The Crookston Masonic Lodge will host a breakfast free-will offering fundraiser for Fit and Fin, with all proceeds going to the Crookston Community Pool. The breakfast will be on Sunday, May 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge at 112 West Robert Street.

Crookston Youth Track and Field meet

The Crookston Youth Track and Field Meet will be Saturday, May 9, at the Crookston High School’s KROX Radio Stadium. A free will light breakfast will be served at 9:30 a.m., and the meet starts at 10:00. Participate in one, some, or all of the free events.  No pre-registration. Everyone is welcome. Join the Crookston Public Library on Tuesday, May 12th at 7:00 p.m. for a deeply moving program with Patty Wetterling and co-author Joy Baker to discuss their memoir, Dear Jacob: A Mother’s Journey of Hope. The disappearance of Jacob Wetterling was a story that haunted Minnesota and transformed the nation. Admission is free, thanks in part to funding from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Legacy Fund.

DNR Firearm Safety Training

DNR Firearm Safety Training for ages 11 and older will be held at the Crookston Gun Club in May. Classes are 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, May 12-15, May 19-22. Field Day and Test will be Saturday, May 23. Youth hunters and those planning on hunting out of Minnesota are required to have a Firearm Safety Training Certificate. Crookston Eagles Auxiliary

The Crookston Eagles Auxiliary 873 Scholarship application for 2026 is available for pickup at the Crookston High School Office. $1,000 Scholarship will be awarded.  Applicants must have a female relative as a member of the Auxiliary. Applicants can be male or female in High School.   Applications are due by April 1st (postmarked). If you have any questions, please contact the Eagles Club at 218-281-3881. 

Driftbusters Snowmobile Club

Every Tuesday (except for Federal Holidays), The Crookston Public Library will host New Born Baby Talk from 9:30 am. to 11:00 a.m. This is for parents with babies 0-12 weeks old. A public health nurse, parent educator, and lactation specialist will be available to answer questions about your newborn and provide support and information on your new journey of parenting.
