CAPITOL UPDATE FROM REPRESENTATIVE DEB KIEL

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Here is an update with the latest news from St. Paul.

END OF SESSION

We ended the regular Legislative session on Monday at midnight. Due to budget negotiations taking far longer than usual, we only sent one budget bill to the governor – Higher Ed was agreed to, but none of the other bills were finished with enough time for us to pass them. Negotiations continued throughout this week, and now all budget bills have been agreed to by leadership. If you’d like to read the bills, they are all available here. Yesterday evening, the Governor called for a special session to begin today at 10:00 a.m. We will be here working until we get our work done and pass a state budget.

MEMORIAL DAY

I want to take a moment to honor those who have sacrificed all in the pursuit of freedom and the defense of our nation. We are forever grateful for those lives given to defend us, and our thoughts and prayers are with those whose loved ones have given the ultimate sacrifice.

STAY IN TOUCH

It’s an honor and privilege to work for you at the Capitol. Don’t hesitate to contact my office at any time this session to share your thoughts, concerns or ideas. I am here to serve you!
