CAR CHASE RESULTS IN 3-VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN GRAND FORKS

Early this morning A Grand Forks Police officer initiated a traffic stop in the 2800 block of South 20th Street. The suspect vehicle, a white Pontiac sped off at a high rate of speed. The officer began to pursue the vehicle with the emergency lights and siren activated.

The suspect vehicle turned west onto 32nd Avenue South. The suspect vehicle was not slowing down, at this time the pursuit was terminated by the supervisor in the 2500 block of 323rd Avenue South. The suspect vehicle continued west on 32nd Avenue South until it was involved in a crash with two other vehicles.

The driver of the suspect vehicle tried to flee on foot, he was caught and arrested by the Grand Forks Police. The suspect was identified as Bruce Austren, age 34 of Grand Forks. Austren was cited for numerous violations, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangerment, fleeing in a Motor Vehicle and Driving with a Suspended License.

No parties involved in the crash were injured. The Grand Forks Police were assisted by the Grand Forks Fire Department and Altru Paramedics.
