Carolyn J. Arends – Obit

Carolyn J. Arends, 76, passed away peacefully in West Hartford, CT on Thursday, April 1, 2021.

She was born May 16, 1944 to George and Leona Arends. Carolyn was baptized on August 29, 1944 at the town of Mary and confirmed her Catholic faith in 1954. She graduated in 1962 from Mount St. Benedict Academy, Crookston, MN.

She was employed as a secretary in Fargo, ND and Seattle, WA before moving to Hartford, CT in 1968. She worked there as a secretary for three years. She graduated from the University of Hartford, Magna Cum Lude with a BA. In 1971 she started working for Cigna Insurance Co. as an insurance specialist until 1990. She has lived in West Hartford since 1980. She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips abroad and in the states. She had a passion for rescuing dogs; bringing four into her home to care for and love.

Carol is survived by her longtime friend, Tom Prevas, West Hartford, CT; brothers, Donald, Bottineau, ND, Gerald (Irene), Perley, MN, Harold (Diane), Otsego, MN, and Jack (Sherry) Dilworth, MN; sisters, Bernie (Miles) Grand Rapids, MN, and Jan (Jim) Battle Lake, MN; and brothers-in-law, Earl Schlick, Mahnomen, MN, and Charlie Klinck, Seattle, WA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Leona Arends; brother, Joe (Muriel) Arends; sisters, Mary (Pete) Gagner, Rose Klinck, and Cecelia Schlick; and sister-in-law, Julie Arends.

A family graveside service will take place at Town of Mary Cemetery, rural Perley, MN.
