CARSEN BOUSHEE HITS 8 THREE-POINTERS AS FOSSTON BOY’S B-BALL DEFEATS ADA-BORUP-WEST 53-37

Carsen Boushee hit eight three-pointers, scored 28 points, and the Fosston Greyhounds were able to advance in the Section 8A Tournament with a 53-37 victory over the Ada-Borup-West Cougars.

FIRST HALF –
Ada-Borup-West ran a four corners offense to start the game and took over two minutes off the clock before Fosston got a steal and Carsen Boushee knocked down his first three giving the Greyhounds a 3-0 lead. Ada-Borup-West would respond and go on a 5-2 run with a few easy transition buckets to tie the game at 5-5 with 12:53 to play in the opening half. After another Cougars three, the Greyhounds would rattle off a 5-0 run to go in front 10-8 capped off by a three from Carsen Boushee. The game continued to be played at a slow pace and after a Cam Spaeth free throw for Ada-Borup-West, it was Fosston in front 10-9 with 8:13 remaining in the half. Carsen Boushee was absolutely on fire all game for Fosston, and the senior would break the game open for Greyhounds hitting three more three-pointers in the opening half and helping the Greyhounds extend their lead to 21-13 with just 2:41 remaining until the break. After a Cougars layup, Boushee would hit his sixth three-pointer of the half, and Fosston would take a 24-15 lead into the halftime break. Boushee had 18 of the Greyhounds 24 points in the first eighteen minutes while Cadyn Dahl led the Cougars with 5.

SECOND HALF –
After a Fosston three to start the second half, the Cougars would counter with back-to-back layups from Cam Spaeth and Austin McCraven to make it 27-19 Greyhounds. Carsen Boushee would then hit his seventh three of the game to pull Fosston in front 30-19, and after another Ada-Borup-West layup, Aaron Norland would get fouled shooting a three and make two of the three attempts giving the Greyhounds a 32-21 edge with 15:05 to go. Over the next eight minutes, the game slowed down a bit and the lead remained the same with Fosston finding themselves in front 38-28 with just 7:44 remaining. The Greyhounds would rattle off an 8-0 run from there to go in front 46-28 and put the game out of reach with four minutes remaining. Fosston’s Carsen Boushee was a big part of the run, and he would hit yet another three and also get an and one during the run. Fosston was able to hit some free throws down the stretch and hang on to win the game 53-37. Carsen Boushee knocked down eight three-pointers and scored 29 points in the win. 

Fosston improves to 24-5 and will now play in the East Sub-Section Championship on Wednesday night. Ada-Borup-West finishes its season with a final record of 19-10
