The Crookston Pirate Wrestling team won their first Section 8A Championship since 1988 with a 39-27 victory over the Badger/Greenbush-Middle River Gators and advanced to the Minnesota State High School League first-round tournament match and lost to #7 ranked Royalton/Upsala 49-26 at the Cass Lake-Bena High School gymnasium. Brandon Boetcher (Fresh-Crookston) and Cam Olstad (Soph-Grand Forks, N.D.) scored twice each and UMC goalie, Jake Sumner (Fresh-Alta Loma, CA) recorded his first college shutout to lead the Golden Eagles to a 6-0 win over the visiting Jamestown Jimmies and sweep the weekend series against the number 13th ranked in the ACHA Division II.
