Catherine Lubinski – Obit

Catherine Mary Lubinski (Weiland) peacefully passed away on May 14, 2018 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota at the age of 97. Catherine was born on October 16, 1920 in Belgium Township outside of Euclid, Minnesota to Nicholas and Marie Weiland. She was raised with eight siblings and enjoyed a close relationship with her brothers and sisters until she became the remaining survivor. Catherine married Alfred Lubinski on November 17, 1942. The two of them had a rich, happy marriage and made their lives farming in the Township of Euclid, Minnesota. After several years of hard work on the farm, Catherine and Alfred retired to Crookston, Minnesota in 1978. During their retirement, Catherine and Alfred enjoyed traveling to many great destinations that included Israel and Rome. Their marriage was the foundation of many families as their children–Martha, Donald, Lyle and Irene–were raised with a sense of responsibility and love in their hearts. Catherine had many passions that include fishing, crocheting and, loving her family. Catherine caught countless walleye at Lake of the Woods, crocheted beautiful afghans for loved ones and had a warm and welcoming home to visitors. She always had a batch of her famous cinnamon rolls to greet any visitor. One of the great joys of her life was being a grandmother. She knew and loved 12 grandchildren,19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Grandma’s heart was full of love, as she always reminded her grandchildren of her adoration. Catherine is preceded in death by her husband Alfred, her daughter Irene (Bobby) Raaen, her son-in-law Keith (Martha) Robertson and two grandsons Christopher Lubinski and Scott Robertson. She will be fondly remembered by those who had the privilege of sharing her life. There will be a visitation for Catherine from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston, MN. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to service on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston, MN. Interment will be a Calvary Cemetery in Crookston, MN.
