CROOKSTON FIRE DEPARTMENT CONDUCTING CONTROLLED BURN TOMORROW MORNING

The Crookston Fire Department is informing the public that they will be conducting a controlled burn tomorrow morning just inside the city limits of Crookston at the property of 1706 Washington just South of Fairfax Avenue. The plan is to begin the burn at 9:00 a.m., with it ending sometime in the afternoon around 1:00 p.m.

The burn will be done on a single-family home structure. An individual from Long Prairie, Minnesota, bought the property and plans to rebuild a new home to replace the current one. It is Minnesota State Law for Firefighters to participate in live burns to receive their firefighter certification, and the Crookston Fire Department will be taking advantage of this opportunity tomorrow by taking down the structure for the new property owner.

Other nearby Fire Departments may also be participating in the controlled burn, and there will be visible smoke in that area until the burn is complete. The public is invited to stop by and watch the controlled burn from a distance if they’d like to.
