CHAD PALM RETURNING TO LEAD CITY OF CROOKSTON IT DEPARTMENT

The Crookston City Council held a special meeting Monday night to pass a resolution to hire a new Information Technology Director. The Council passed the resolution hiring Chad Palm.

Crookston City Administrator Amy Finch said Palm was also the first-ever IT Director for the City of Crookston. “This evening, Council approved a resolution to accept my recommendation to hire Chad Palm for our Information Technology Director,” said Finch. “Chad was actually Crookston’s very first Information Technology Director. The position was created while he was employed here in the IT Department. He’s been employed for, I believe, 14 years at the City of Chaska, so he stayed relevant in his IT career and local government.”

Councilman Jake Fee said the City of Crookston was hitting a home run with this hire. “We’re very excited,” said Fee. “Chad has been the IT Director once already for the City of Crookston, and now he’s returning to get closer to home. And we really feel like we hit a home run with this hire. The experience he has already with city IT work, there are different things you have to deal with for compliance issues, and with police and fire, there are some different layers there. Chad has all the experience in the world. He is a very talented guy when it comes to the IT work, and we’re going to be very fortunate in Crookston to have him back.”

Finch said Palm’s experience with IT for the police department will benefit the city. “There are benefits with that – working with the police department and understanding the certifications that go along with IT at the police department,” said Finch. “He’s had some management experience, worked with budgets. I think he will be innovative. One thing we communicated to him is we want someone who is looking for things we could do better. Planning ahead, long-term planning, budgeting, or letting us know, here is an issue, and I think we could solve it this way, ideas. He comes with a good network of colleagues to rely on, and we are really excited to have him here. January 11 will be his first day with us.”
