CHS STUDENTS ATTEND FIELD TRIP TO THREE REGIONAL BUSINESSES

On Wednesday, May 15, Crookston High School students visited three regional companies: Mattracks, Waterworth Cabinets, and Nordic Fiberglass. They also had lunch at the Viking Diner.

The first stop was Mattracks in Karlstad, MN. This company makes customized tracks for all sorts of vehicles. Some of the biggest industries are agriculture, recreation, and the military. They have even made tracks for Hollywood movies and commercials. This is a very unique and exciting company. The facility is in downtown Karlstad, and they have a museum set up with all sorts of accomplishments from the Mattracks owner, Glen Brazier.

The students’ second stop was for lunch at the Viking Diner. It was a neat little diner in Viking with food students said was great.

The third stop was Waterworths Woodworking outside of Viking, MN. They are a one-stop shop for all your cabinetry needs. Waterworths has multiple buildings with multiple jobs going on at once. The owner, Marcus, gave students a tour and explained the processes he goes through with customers and contractors he works with.

The students’ last stop of the day was Nordic Fiberglass in Warren, MN. This company makes electrical fiberglass housing and fiber optic housing. They have multiple buildings that they complete work in, and they gave students a great tour to see the different processes that take place at their business.

Industrial Technology Teacher Travis Oliver wanted to show his appreciation to those who helped make the field trip possible: “I want to thank Tom Leuthner from Pine to Prairie Co-op for funding the field trip and Principal Matt Torgerson for supporting the field trips. I am, however, disappointed that more students did not take advantage of visiting these places. I am grateful for the students who did come with me.”
