CHS STUDENTS RILEY HELGESON AND NAOMI JOHNSON ARE THE 2023 HAPPY JOES PIZZA EATING CONTEST WINNERS

Crookston Ox Cart Days they held its annual Happy Joes Pizza and Ice Cream Parlor Pizza Eating Contest on Saturday afternoon in the downtown square of Crookston.

This year’s theme was a showdown between Crookston High School and UMC. This year, two champions were crowned, one male and one female. CHS reigned supreme in this contest over UMC, with both CHS students winning the competition. All competitors started with 12 hefty slices of Happy Joe’s Pizza; they had 15 minutes to complete as many pieces as possible. Whoever ate the most slices within time restrictions was declared the winner.

CHS student Riley Helgeson won the male competition by devouring ten slices of Pizza, and CHS student Naomi Johnson consumed seven pieces to win the women’s match. Both Helgeson and Johnson have earned 12 free pizzas from Happy Joe’s for their efforts. They are allowed to order one free pizza per month for 12 months.

The counterparts in this contest were UMC student Reid Grant and UMC staff member Kelsey Grunewald.
