In the Winter of 2020, Crookston High School Community Corrections teacher Travis Oliver applied for a Community Roots grant of $5,000 from American Crystal Sugar in Crookston, MN, and a State Grant from the Minnesota Department of Education-Pine to Prairie.
Luckily and graciously, he was awarded both grants and used the grant money to purchase a Shop Sabre CNC Plasma Cutter for the Welding Class. One of the first projects the class started using it for was turning the American Crystal Sugar logo into metal art.
Students that worked on this project were Hunter Kresl, Jackson Demarais, and Ryan Abeld. It was a great learning experience for Oliver and the CHS Welding Class students.
