Jeff Shoobridge, Crookston City Administrator, has issued a statement on behalf of the City of Crookston regarding the recent cancellation of Fiesta de Crookston.
The City of Crookston has recently learned, along with the rest of the community, that the Fiesta de Crookston event has been canceled. We want to take this opportunity to clarify that Fiesta de Crookston is organized and hosted by the Downtown Crookston Development Partnership (DCDP), an independent group founded and operated by local community members. The DCDP is an independent organization that is not operated or managed by the City of Crookston, and as such, the City was not involved in the planning or decision-making surrounding the event.
While we cannot comment on the reasons behind the cancellation, as we were not part of those discussions, we do want to express our sincere appreciation for the efforts of the Downtown Crookston Development Partnership. Their dedication to enhancing our downtown and creating opportunities for community engagement has made a positive impact on Crookston.
We are saddened to see Fiesta de Crookston cancelled, especially given how much the community enjoyed it last year. It was a vibrant and meaningful celebration, and we truly hope to see its return in the future.”
