CITY OF STEPHEN HAS WATER AGAIN, BUT BOIL ORDER IS BACK IN EFFECT

The City of Stephen announced that it has turned off its water for the northwest area of the city from north of 5th Street to County Road 5 and West of Atlantic Avenue to River Street on Thursday night and Friday morning.

If any citizens are in need of water, their Community Center is open and available to fill your needs.

The city announced it has a contractor on the way to repair the water system.

The city revealed the shutdown is due to a water break, and contractors are currently looking to repair it.

The city reported they have to thaw the ground due to a natural gas main which will take 2-3 days so they can safely dig to the water line. Unfortunately, this will mean they will be out of water for possibly 5 days.
The city asks residents to be patient, and if they need pails of water, they will have the fire hall open tomorrow.

The city announced that water is back on but is not safe to drink without boiling it for at least three minutes. The boiled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.

The city announced that citizens no longer have to boil their water after taking water samples and finding it safe to drink and use.

The city announced that the water main broke again and is working with Spruce Valley to repair it. If you turn on your water faucet and have water, you do not have to boil your water before use. However, a Boil Water Advisory is being applied to the residents that are affected by the water break.

The crews are still working on the water. Unfortunately, there will be NO water tonight. The city has received drinking water, which will be available for the residents in the area affected by the water main break. The City Office will be open until 7:00 p.m. tonight, March 7, to pick up drinking water and fill buckets. On Wednesday, March 8, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the city office and community center will be open to fill pails and water jugs.

The City of Stephen announced that the water is back on but is reinforcing the Boil Order until they get the results of the water sample test. The city thank everyone for their patience, and the SAC students, as well as the Firemen that helped with special thanks going to John Peterson for supplying the much-needed flax straw bales to insulate the water lines.
The results of the water sample test will be revealed tomorrow.

Residents are no longer required to boil their water. The city has received the results of the water samples, and they passed.
