Clarence Reuer – Obit

Clarence Reuer, 79, Ada, MN passed away peacefully though unexpectedly in his sleep on the early morning of Monday, March 8, 2021, at his residence.

On March 24, 1941, Emil and Maggie (Schumacher) Reuer were blessed with the birth of their first son, Clarence Reuer in Kidder County, ND. Some years later, sons Milbert and Roderick completed their family.

Clarence grew up on a farm near Dawson, ND, and attended country school and Glueckstal Church near his home. He attended high school in Napoleon, ND, and furthered his education at Valley City State College where he received a BS degree in education in the field of science. He first taught in Buffalo, ND for 4 years before moving on to Perham High School in MN for the next 30 years. During those years he taught science in Jr. and Sr. High, coached football, served as Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, and did some substitute teaching there after retirement. In 2006 he moved to Ada, MN to fill in for a teacher on leave, resulting in a year and a half assignment. Since then he continued to substitute through the 2019-2020 school year. He taught for 54 years.

While teaching in Perham he also gained another title, devoted husband, for he became acquainted with a Home Economics teacher, Carol Blau. They were married on June 23, 1973, at Faith United Church in Ada, MN. In 1990 a dark, curly-haired, smiley and active two-year-old boy entered their lives – Caleb. What a joy he brought to the family! It was after Caleb’s high school graduation that they moved to the Ada area where they had purchased Carol’s home farm.

Other interests Clarence enjoyed were Boy Scouts, a lot of gardening, farming, sports, and traveling where he and Carol often took their nieces and nephews along.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; son, Caleb of St. Paul, MN; brothers, Milbert (Terry) Reuer of Farmington, MI and Rod (Lori) Reuer of Baxter, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents.

Clarence was a kind, gentle and thoughtful person, loved by many families, friends, and students. He had a strong faith in the Lord. We did not lose him for we know he is at peace in heaven with his Lord and Savior. We will miss “Mr. Reuer.”  May God bless his memory.
