Clayton J. Arthurs – Obit

Clayton J. Arthurs, 78, Halstad, MN, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Clayton James Arthurs was born in rural Menahga, MN on April 6, 1943, to Mary Arthurs. He graduated from Menahga High School in 1961. On December 8, 1963, he married Diane Janke, and together they had three daughters.

Clayton, Diane, and the girls moved to Halstad in 1975, where Clayton resided until his death. He worked various jobs throughout his life and retired from River’s Edge Insurance after 16 years as an adjuster.

He enjoyed his annual fishing trips to Canada, deer hunting with friends and family, playing Pinochle, sitting on his back porch enjoying a cool one, and time spent with his family and friends.

We never truly knew how many fish were caught or deer harvested as the stories seemed to grow. “Lucky” was a nickname friends gave him as he often caught the first or the largest fish.

His tomfoolery never left him and will forever remain as some of our best memories.

Survivors include daughters, Cindy (Denny) Ehrichs, Perham, MN, Shelley (John) House, Maple Grove, MN, and Tammy (Brad) Merkens, Halstad, MN; grandchildren, Tina Ehrichs, Holly (Josh) Burke, Patrick House, Quinn (Fiancé Megan Roehl) Merkens, and Bryer Merkens; great-grandsons, Conner and Dawson Burke; sister-in-law, Ellen Arthurs; special friend, Patti; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, Loyal and Mary; brothers, Lyle and William; and sisters, Alice and Hazel.

Celebration of Life Service: 1:00 PM, Monday, December 20, 2021 at the Legion Recreational Center, Halstad, MN, with a visitation to immediately follow until 4:00 PM. Due to COVID 19 concerns, masks are recommended.
