COMMUNITY VOICE APP AVAILABLE FOR FREE DOWNLOAD

You may have heard about the Community Voice App in Crookston and the surrounding area. Megan Pederson created the app and is working with the Crookston Visitors Bureau to offer a place for cities, counties, businesses, and colleges/universities a landing place for people to get pertinent information on what is going on.

“The Community Voice app is an inclusive information one-stop for communities. It has the ability to have all the local events, services, resources, facilities, businesses, clubs, and organizations listed in one spot,” said Pederson. “Crookston is super lucky because we do have KROX, and there is a lot of information there, but a lot of communities don’t have that. So, it is super fragmented. There are a lot of Facebook groups and a lot of websites that may or may not be complete with information, and you may or may not be able to find what you are looking for, so this is the ability to have everything in one spot plus communication tools.”

Businesses that sign up have the opportunity to have subscribers opt-in to receive notifications from the businesses. “Users can get emails from the businesses through the app and text notifications from local leadership through the app,” said Pederson. “If events change or things of that nature, we can send texts out about that as well.”

The app’s current communities are Crookston, Fertile, Fosston, and the University of Minnesota Crookston. Ulen will be added soon.

The app is free to download, and links to the download pages are below.
