The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) Golden Eagle women’s soccer team was held without a shot in the second half of a 2-0 loss to Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears in a Senior Day, NSIC match played at the UMC Soccer Field in Crookston.
Neither side looked dominant in the first half of the game with Minnesota Crookston and Concordia-St. Paul each generating three shots on goal. Concordia-St. Paul goalkeeper Emily Nelson (Jr., Brooklyn Park) made all three saves she was challenged with while the Golden Bears’ Jordan Rowan-Stafford (Sr., Oakdale) scored her fourth goal of the season from close-range on a strike placed into the low corner away from Minnesota Crookston goalkeeper Athena DiMario Done (Soph., Windsor, Ontario) in the 21st minute giving Concordia-St. Paul a 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Jordan Rowan Stafford scored her second goal of the match firing a shot up and out of the reach of DiMario Done off an assist from Cayla Renwick giving Concordia-St. Paul a 2-0 lead in the 73rd minute. The Golden Bears continued their offensive onslaught in the final 45 minutes generating six shots on goal in the second half while holding Minnesota Crookston without a single shot in the final half.
