CONGRESSWOMAN MICHELLE FISCHBACH INVITES HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO ENTER ART COMPETITION

Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach (MN-07) invites high school students from Minnesota’s Seventh Congressional District to participate in the annual Congressional Art Competition. This longstanding U.S. Capitol tradition is an excellent opportunity for high school students from across the district to showcase their creativity and hard work. Since 1982, more than 650,000 high school students from around the country have participated.

The competition is open to all public, private, charter, and home school students in grades nine through twelve. Winning submissions from each congressional district will be displayed for one year in the tunnel from the U.S. Capitol to the Cannon House Office Building, where they will be viewed by thousands of visitors, tourists, and Members of Congress. The winners will also be highlighted on Congresswoman Fischbach’s social media channels.

“The art competition gives high school students an amazing opportunity to showcase their art. It is a longstanding U.S. Capitol tradition and I am looking forward to once again having my office participate in the Congressional Art Competition,” said Congresswoman Fischbach. “I have a deep respect for the work that goes into these pieces and it is wonderful to see the amount of talent we have across the 7th District. I look forward to seeing all the submissions and sharing that talent with the country!”

All entries must be original in concept, design, and execution and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws. Any entry that has been copied from an existing photo or image (including a painting, graphic, or advertisement) that was created by someone other than the student is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted. Work entered must be in the original medium (that is, not a scanned reproduction of a painting or drawing).

Contestants must submit a photo of their art, along with their signed release form, to ArtCompetitionMN07@mail.house.gov no later than 5:00 PM CT on Friday, April 26th, 2024.
Note: The winner will need to provide a framed, physical copy of their artwork by mail or hand delivery to Congresswoman Fischbach’s District Office in Willmar, MN, or Moorhead, MN, by Friday, May 17, 2024.

Thank you to those who participated in the 2023 Congressional Art Competition! We received many wonderful submissions from talented students across Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District.
