CROOKSON SCHOOL ABSENTEE BALLOT BOARD REPORTS 21 ABSENTEE BALLOTS ALREADY SENT IN FOR REFERENDUM

The Crookston Public School is currently accepting absentee voting for their upcoming referendum, with the official vote scheduled on Tuesday, February 14, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

The Crookston Public School’s Absentee Ballot Board met today to count and verify some of the absentee votes that had come to the district already. So far, the Board has reported that 21 ballots have come in for the public referendum. The Absentee Ballot Board reported that it will meet every Friday to count and verify the votes before they are officially counted. “We will do this weekly until the election unless they start coming in heavy, then we might do twice a week,” Absentee Ballot Board member and Election Judge Kathy Altringer explained. “These votes will be put in the machine the day of the election. We will have two people together and put those in.”

Absentee ballots are still available for people to use if they are unable to come and vote on the referendum’s election day and can be received at the Crookston High School District Office or mailed to them from the school. “People can choose either to come out to the High School and talk to Marilyn Wahouske and actually vote here if they are in town and can’t make it that day,” Kathy Altringer explained. “Or they can call her and request one, and she will mail one out to them. They just need to be back in by Monday, February 13, by 4:30 p.m.” Altringer explained that people can also vote in person at the District Office at the Crookston High School between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., from Monday to Friday. For those who mail in their requested Absentee Ballots, the school asks you to allow up to seven business days for delivery time when mailing. Any ballots arriving by mail will still be accepted on Election Day, provided they are postmarked prior to February 13.
