Crookston 7th grade girls basketball wins the CYBA tournament

The Crookston 7th-grade girls’ basketball team won the Crookston Youth Basketball Tournament this past weekend.
The girls started out with a 26-20 win over a tough Riverside Christian team Friday night, then had an all-around balanced team effort to beat Bemidji White 34-23. In the championship, Crookston beat Bemidji Navy with a hard-fought defensive battle and key free throws to a 25-17 win for back-to-back CYBA championships.

This team ended the junior high season with a 21-3 overall record. Highlights were placing in all four tournaments this year, taking two firsts, a second place, and one third place.

“This team was truly dedicated as we practiced most days at 6:15 am, and the teamwork displayed by the girls throughout the season was clear, and their effort in this tournament was a perfect reflection of their hard work due to not playing any games for a month,” said Coach Garret Kollin.

Members of the team are Alle Kollin, Hallie Perry, Stormy Luckow, Kambree Wangen, Clara Cymblauk, Emma Perrault, Zaelyn Normandin, Maggie Van Ruden, and Annie Kollin. The team is coached by Garrett and Ericka Kollin.
