The Crookston Ambassador Team stopped by the Queen City Art Center to catch up with Jenn Walz, learn about her business, and see how it is doing since opening in August of 2025. Queen City Art Center is located in the old Crookston Times building.
Walz shared the classes occurring in her shop, including painting, pottery, shibori, and mosaic, which have been most popular. Customers can pick their own pottery, paint it, and then their masterpieces are sent off to be fired, and are ready to be picked up in 7-10 days.
Walz talked through a major but exciting construction project. After the remodel is complete, the kilns will be moved back to the art center and fired on site. The remodel will also allow opportunities to include a stage for open mic night, bridal showers, and baby showers; the possibilities are endless.
Walz has a passion for bringing a variety of local and area artists to the community. You can find several forms of art for sale. Artists can also find art supplies locally at the shop. Come summer, Walz also has plans for the green space outside.
Business hours Monday by appointment, Tuesday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., and Sunday by appointment.
Queen City Art Center is located at 124 S Broadway, in Downtown Crookston. For questions, call Walz at 218-470-2025 or email queencityartcenter@gmail.com.
