CROOKSTON AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY ATTENDS 87TH ANNUAL FALL CONFERENCE IN ST. CLOUD

President Sharon Lanctot and First Vice President Margee Keller: members of the American Legion Auxiliary Nels T Wold Unit 20 Crookston attended the 87th Annual Fall Conference held October 27-29, 2022, in St. Cloud, MN, hosted by the American Legion Convention Corporation. The Conference was held at the Rivers Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud, MN.

State President Mary Kuperus was the presiding officer. President Mary has chosen the Meditation Rooms at the three new Minnesota Veterans homes as her project. Money donated will go toward the movable alter, alter clothes, candles, music technology, books for the library, chairs, artwork for the walls, and other items as requested. She is hoping to raise $10,000 for each home. The new homes in Bemidji, Montevideo, and Preston will need a lot of support from the Auxiliary and other organizations. Her Fall Project was to collect clothing for the St Cloud VA Health Care Center’s “Clothing Room.” Thank you to the Crookston Community for your donations and to the Golden Link for collecting them. President Mary was thankful for your generosity.

Throughout the Conference, the Department Chairmen presented their programs for this Auxiliary year, including Department History Chairman Margee Keller. “Just Ask” sessions gave the membership the opportunity to ask questions about each program. The Auxiliary Emergency Fund Program ran a silent auction throughout the Conference. The grand total of Silent Auction proceeds and direct donations was $5,058.86.

Others addressing the Conference were the Northwestern Division Vice President Marlene Boyer of Carrington, North Dakota.
