The Crookston Pirate Boy’s Golf team shot a 353 to finish 10th place out of 10 teams at the Detroit Lakes Invitational held at the Par 64 Lakeview Golf Course in Detroit Lakes.
Crookston was led again by Kaleb Thinglestad with a 77. “He didn’t’ hit the ball as well as he did at Kings Walk. He had a few penalty shots and the Lakeview Course can give you a few penalty shots if your not hitting the ball well,” said Pirate Coach Steve Kofoed. “He was a little disappointed with how he finished, but still golfed well considering we haven’t been outside much this season.”
Blaine Andringa had the second best score with an 83. “He was really steady in the world of Bogey. He had a couple big numbers, but he had 11 bogeys,” said Coach Kofoed. “He was steady all day with a couple of exceptions.”
Coach Kofoed said the rest of the guys didn’t shoot as well as they would have liked, but they were happy to be outside on a course. “The guys made a statement that when I was watching them they had big numbers and I noticed that,” said Coach Kofoed. “There was a few too many short game mistakes. Putting was an issue across the board today because we have been working on putting on the carpet at the school. Hopefully with the warmer weather, we will be able to get on the course and start working on our game.”
Crookston will travel to the Pequot Lakes Invitational at the Legacy Course on Wednesday.
