CROOKSTON BOYS TENNIS BEAT PERHAM AND NEW LONDON-SPICER

The Crookston Pirate Boys Tennis team continued to roll as they cruised to a 5-2 victory over the Perham Yellowjackets and a 7-0 victory over the New London-Spicer Wildcats in a Section 8A triangular in Perham.

CROOKSTON VS PERHAM
Crookston swept the three doubles matches with three hard-fought wins. At first doubles, Grant Funk and Jack Everett won the first set 6-3, and won the second set 6-4. Second doubles was as tight as you could get as Perham won the first set 6-3. Crookston’s Caden Boike and Hudson Rick bounced back to win the second set 6-2 and then won the third set 10-7 to win a fantastic battle between two evenly matched teams. Crookston showed off their depth in the match as the third doubles team of Colton Osborn and Alex Zammert won the first set 6-2 and had to come up with some big game-winners to win the second set 6-4.
The first singles match was an outstanding battle as Isaac Thomforde lost a heart-breaking first set 7-6 before he bounced back to win the second set 6-3 to force a third set. In the final set, Thomforde outlasted his opponent and won 10-5 to win the match. Perham won the second and third singles matches before Sam Widseth dominated the fourth singles match shutting out his opponent 6-0, 6-0.

CROOKSTON VS NEW LONDON-SPICER
Crookston earned another big Section 8A win as they cruised to a 7-0 victory over New London-Spicer.
Isaac Thomforde had another three-set victory at first singles. He won the first set in impressive fashion with a 6-1 victory. He lost the second set 6-4 before he won a back-and-forth battle in the third set 11-9. Reggie Winjum won the second singles match with a hard-fought 6-4 victory in the first set before cruising to a 6-1 second-set victory to win the match.
Gunnar Groven cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory in third singles, and at fourth singles, Sam Widseth coasted to a 6-0, 6-2 victory to sweep the singles.
The first doubles team of Grant Funk and Jack Everett had no problems in their match as they won 6-1, 6-1. The second doubles team of Caden Boike and Hudson Rick won the first set 6-0 and came up with big game-winners to win the second set 6-4. In the third doubles match, Colton Osborn and Alex Zammert won two hard-fought sets. They won the first set 6-4 and also won the second set with an identical 6-4 score, and the Pirates won 7-0.

Crookston improves to 9-4 on the year and 7-1 in Section 8A play and will travel to Moorhead on Tuesday.
