The Crookston City Council and Ways and Means committee will have their first meetings of 2026 on Monday, January 5. The City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the City Hall council chambers, with the Ways and Means meeting to follow.
CROOKSTON CITY COUNCIL AGENDA
The consent agenda includes the approval of the council meeting minutes from December 15 and 29, 2025. It also consists of the bills and disbursements totaling $558,947.48, the approval of the 2026 gas fitter and cement mason licenses, the approval of the LELS addendum for Juneteenth, and the reappointment of Tanner Holten as the city attorney for 2026. The council will be asked to accept a donation of $2,045.65 from the Crookston Baseball Association for a new cover/tarp for Jim Karn Baseball field, designating the Crookston Watch as the official newspaper, and appointing Bakertilly as the City’s audit firm.
The council will also be asked to make several financial designations, including the depositories for public funds, the bank authority at United Valley Bank, and Old National Bank. The final consent agenda item is the approval of the 2026 fee schedule.
The regular agenda includes the approval of the hiring of Jon Roscoe as the new finance director, a contract with Houston Engineering for the USDA grant award administration and reporting, including the DEED BDPI grant administration for the Industrial Park project. The council will be asked to approve a DEED Redevelopment grant program application authorization for the demolition of the old Tri-Valley Opportunity building in downtown Crookston. They will also be asked to approve a resolution supporting the Minnesota Rail Service Improvement phase II grant application and a memorandum of understanding for a land lease for the Crookston Industrial Park railroad spur extension.
The final agenda item is a resolution supporting the application for the Greater Minnesota Small Cities (Tier II Cities) Housing Aid Grant Program, Round 2.
WAYS AND MEANS COMMITTEE AGENDA
After the City Council meeting, the Crookston Ways and Means committee will meet. There are three items on the agenda: the Downtown Corridor Redevelopment Strategy proposal, a discussion regarding the ABDO Classification and compensation study, and a discussion regarding Boards, Commissions, and Council Committee Composition for 2026.
