The Crookston City Council met Monday evening in the Council Chambers in city hall.
During the meeting, City Council Member Joe Kresl announced he would resign effective May 31. Kresl will move with his family to Maple Lake but will remain working with the University of Minnesota Crookston as the facility’s head custodian. Kresl said he has enjoyed his time on the council. “Just seeing how things can move forward for the betterment of Crookston and just dealing with all the residents in Crookston,” said Kresl. “Trying to answer questions in the most honest way that you can for them. It’s very rewarding.”
AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
The council approved a grant application for an airport improvement project. The improvements in question for the airport project will be the addition of taxi lanes to the site for a potential T-Hangar. “We previously had a recommendation from the Airport Commission to authorize a request for proposals for bids for the construction of a T-Hangar and a pathway to the Hangar,” said Crookston City Administrator Corky Reynolds. “The bids were received and they were exceedingly high so they recommended we reject those bids and recommended that we have a bid proposal for just the pathways to the sight and potentially the earthwork for the sight. We had a meeting with SEH and they recommended that we not prepare the sight and we just have the taxi ways accepted and have those constructed this summer and that is this resolution.”
ALCOHOL LICENSE FOR AMERIVU INN AND SUITES
The council approved an alcohol license for Amerivu Inn & Suites, formerly Cobblestone Hotel & Suites. The alcohol license is 3.2 for ADITI Inc., doing business as Amerivu Inn & Suites. Cobblestone sold its property and previously had a license, but it was non-transferable to the new owners.
The council approved the consent agenda, including the approval of the minutes from the May 13 meeting and the special city council meeting minutes from May 21. The council approved the disbursement of bills totaling $188,783.59. They also approved a license renewal for Cement Mason and finally accepted a donation from Paul Gregg for the City of Crookston Park and Rec.
