Crookston Park and Rec Spring swimming lessons will be held in April Session 1 for ages 3 to 5 is Tuesday and Thursday, April 4- 27, from 5:15-5:45 p.m., and that session is full, but Session 2 for six years old and older is from 6:00 to 6:45 p.m. and still has room.
“We follow what the Red Cross Swimming program is with six levels of swimming competence,” said Crookston Pool manager Cody Brekken. “I have seven instructors, which is good. That is always a big question on how lessons are run so that we can have a pretty sizable group.”
The Crookston Community Pool is looking for anyone 15 and older that would like to work at the pool as a lifeguard. “Summer is coming up, and we will hopefully expand our hours if we get enough lifeguards,” said Brekken.
The pool is currently holding the Wellness Swimming program on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Wellness is for kids ages 7 to 18 that have completed swim lessons and can swim the entire length of the pool. “It is a fun program for them,” said Brekken. “They get some exercise, play games, and we still have room if anyone is interested in signing up.” The cost is $125.
The Park and Rec Summer activities Funfinder will come out on April 11, and the pool will offer Summer Swimming lessons. “We will have a couple more lessons in the summer. We will have day sessions in July and evening sessions in June,” said Brekken.
